Roblox is a gaming app developed in the early 2000s and marketed towards children. Roblox is very popular and has millions of active users. The company supposedly monitors 50,000 private chats every second for audio and texts.1 Most parents are not aware that when their child enters this place, they can be vulnerable to unrestricted X-rated content, sexual predators and sextortion scammers – blackmailers disguised as friendly avatars scouring games for unsuspecting kids.
Sadly, there is a major predator problem on Roblox targeting kids, and for that reason, powerful legal action is necessary. Parents are under the impression that Roblox is carefully protecting their children, as it claims, by monitoring private chats, but its protective measures are grossly insufficient.
Recent news stories have questioned how safe the game is for children. Since 2018, police in the U.S. have arrested at least two dozen people accused of abducting or abusing victims they’d met or groomed using Roblox, according to data compiled by Bloomberg Businessweek.2
Is Roblox Dangerous for Kids?
Kids are not safe playing Roblox on the internet. More than 40% of its users are preteens, and with that market come special hazards.2 Although parents have a false sense of security and think protections are in place, that is simply not the case. Predators can pretend to be someone else, and children often believe they are talking online with someone else. According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, there was a 98% increase in online enticement reports from 2019-2020. Most tragic is that between October 2022 and March 2023, at least 20 male teens committed suicide after being tormented by sextortion.3 Predators prey on children on Roblox, and they exploit them every day.
Predators lure kids into sending inappropriate photographs and develop relationships with them that can move to other online platforms and, in some instances, offline. As the predator continues the “grooming” process, the child will agree to send compromising photos or even agree to meet the predator IRL (in real life). The predator will threaten the child that the pictures will be made public if they don’t receive money. This is “sextortion” at its finest.
Is There a Lawsuit Against Roblox?
A Case for Justice is working with lawyers who are investigating potential cases. Child safety is paramount, and Roblox needs to be held accountable for the harm done to unsuspecting children.
Parents of a minor gamer in California filed the first Roblox sextortion-related lawsuit against the company in October 2022 for enabling a culture where a young girl was sexually and financially exploited for months.
Another proposed lawsuit alleges the gaming platform is “built on the exploitation of children,” charging that Roblox’s lack of child safety precautions resulted in monetary losses. These children spent thousands of dollars on Robux (Roblox currency) to buy things on the app, were exposed to adult content, and were in danger of grooming.
How Do Roblox Attorneys Get Paid?
A Case for Justice ONLY works with law firms that work on a contingency basis. Contingency means the law firm fronts all the costs, including their time. Their client pays nothing upfront; the law firm takes on all the financial risk. If there is a successful verdict or settlement of the lawsuit, the firm will receive a percentage. If the case is NOT successfully settled or won, the law firm will pay the costs and absorb all the time they put into the case. You will not owe them anything. Also, there is never a charge for A Case of Women’s services.
There are many plaintiff law firms across the nation but not all have the experience and resources to handle complex cases. A Case for Justice, because of its reputation, is able to connect a parent with a law firm handling the Roblox lawsuit.
Lawsuits filed against Roblox are CIVIL legal cases against the company. We want Roblox to be held accountable for putting young people in danger by enticing them with so-called “safe” use of the app.
Through civil litigation, we are able to punish institutions and corporations where it hurts the most — the bottom line. In criminal litigation, a person may be imprisoned for a crime. Civil litigation, importantly, is affordable for everyone because it can be handled on a contingency fee basis.
Monetary compensation that a successful civil litigation can bring affirms the injury that has been done to someone. The past cannot be changed, but money can pay for medical bills, therapy bills, and household needs, and help a family to be able to relax and move on.

Parents, if your child has been sexually exploited and even paid money to an extortionist, he or she is not alone. It is not their fault and not your fault.
